The one who said NO

On Monday 3rd and Tuesday 4th february, pupils of 3rd form of collège E.Zola welcomed Françoise Mandelbaum-Reiner, a hidden jewish child during the 2nd world war.

She comes for many years and will come again to tell her movie story. Pupils were very attentive and captivated by her life. Mrs Mandelbaum-Reiner accompagned her story by an exposition of documents ( photos, objects... ). First of all, Françoise Mandelbaum-Reiner presented her life before the 2nd world war and she continued to tell her story until now. The "jewish grandmother" of Zola transmited her message: keep a positive aspect of life.

This project was possible only with the perfect organization of Mrs François, Mrs Baron and other teachers.

Our trip to Normandy

On Friday April 11th, we went to the American cemetery, la Pointe du Hoc and the German cemetery.

First, we left the school at 8:30 am to go to the American Cemetery of Colleville. By group, we visited the site with a guide. She told the story of the Bedford's boys. It was moving and interesting. She put a lot of emotion in her speech. The cemetery was very beautiful and impressive. After, we visited the cemetery's museum.

When we finished the visit, we ate on the beach of the D-day. We had sandwiches for lunch. It was nice because the sun shone.

Next, went to la Pointe du Hoc. We imagined the soldiers fought 70 years before. We didn't have a lot of time to see all the site.

Finally, we saw the German cemetery of la Cambe. It was smaller than the American cemetery. We didn't have a guide so we didn't understand all.

We returned in the bus at 3:30 pm and we arrived at the school at 4:45 pm.

We keep a lot of good memories of this day. We prefered the visit of the American cemetery. Therefore, we would like to come back later.
